The Italian coast guard released footage of a burning yacht sinking in clouds of smoke, off the coast of Sardinia, on Wednesday.

According to local reports, the boat was traveling from Sardinia to Capri on Tuesday when it caught fire. Coast Guard officials said they had rescued a total of 17 people from the boat named Lady M-M. Among those on board were eight tourists from Kazakhstan and nine crew members.

They were found in a small boat when the Coast Guard arrived, having abandoned the yacht. A helicopter and two Coast Guard boats were deployed in the rescue mission after a distress signal was sent out from the yacht. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
