Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip have made it regular to demonstrate in solidarity with prisoners held by Israel.

In the latest of such demonstrations, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) organized a march on the Red Cross office in Gaza City.

Palestinian inmates are more vulnerable now with the absence of vital preventive measures in the time of the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this month, cancer-stricken prisoner Kamal Abu Wa’ar was tested positive for coronavirus.

There are concerns that the Israeli regime might be seeking to take advantage of the current circumstances to eliminate the Palestinian prisoners.

Many of the inmates suffer from chronic illnesses. Israel’s Prison Service denies them proper treatment.

Demonstrators want the international community to mount pressure on Israel to provide adequate health care to the prisoners in the pandemic era.
