Comet Neowise lights up skies in France

Star gazers have been treated to the sight of a blazing comet as it approached close to the sun.

Known to researchers as Comet C/2020, or 'NEOWISE' (Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer), the extraterrestrial body made its appearance after it was spotted by infrared channels on March 27, 2020 by NASA.

In a time-lapse sequence shared with Reuters, the comet was seen in the early morning skies in Montlucon, France. Comet observers also spotted the spectacle in Italy, Northern Ireland and the United States.

NASA posted on their website that the 'natural firework' comet can be seen in the morning until July 11, and later after sunset until mid-August.
