Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of US President Donald Trump’s eldest son and a top fund-raising official for his 2020 re-election campaign, has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Sergio Gor, the chief of staff for the Trump Victory Finance Committee, said in a statement that the Fox News anchor “was immediately isolated to limit any exposure.”

Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend is the third person close to the president that has contracted the virus.

“She’s doing well, and will be retested to ensure the diagnosis is correct since she’s asymptomatic, but as a precaution will cancel all upcoming events,” Gor said.

In May, a personal valet serving Trump his food and the press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence also tested positive.

“Every staff member and guest in close proximity to the president and vice president is still being temperature-checked, asked symptom histories and tested for Covid-19,” Judd Deere, a White House spokesman, said in a statement in late June.

Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle traveled to the US state of South Dakota to attend a fourth of July event at Mount Rushmore.

Under pressure over the poor response to the pandemic, Trump is trying to project a message that the US has put behind the worst of the pandemic.
