Video: IRGC destroys terrorists’ positions during drill along western borders

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has carried out military maneuvers using artillery, missiles and drones, destroying terrorists’ positions along the country’s western border, a new footage shows.

The maneuvers, codenamed “The Power of Muslim Kurdish Martyrs,” were conducted throughout the Divandarreh, Marivan, and Saqqez Counties of Kordestan Province, Tasnim News Agency reported on Thursday.

The footage shows the elite military force laying waste to the terrorists’ hideouts using artillery and missile fire as well as attack drones.

The exercise was overseen by a number of local authorities and high-ranking IRGC officials, including the IRGC's Ground Force Commander, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour.

The maneuvers came a day after Iran urged all countries to commit to the global fight against terrorism, condemning terrorist attacks by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants on both Iranian and Turkish targets.

On Thursday, Turkish media reported an armed conflict between elements of terrorist groups and Turkish military forces near the joint Iranian-Turkish border, which injured two Turkish border guards, one of whom succumbed to his injuries.

Following the conflict, Iranian border guards were forced to prevent the infiltration of elements belonging to the PKK terrorist group into the country.

Last July, the IRGC staged a multi-pronged offensive on terrorist positions along the Iranian border with Iraq’s northern semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, inflicting heavy losses on them. That offensive was ordered after the terrorists killed three of the Corps’ members during “desperate attempts” to undermine security in some regions of Iran’s western and northwestern areas.

Back in September 2018, the elite force fired short-range missiles at a gathering of terrorist commanders in that region, dealing a heavy blow to numerous terrorists who sought to create insecurity and carry out acts of sabotage in Kordestan, West Azarbaijan, and Kermanshah, another western Iranian province.
