The Iranian Army's Navy has staged a military exercise on the Oman Sea and north of the Indian Ocean. The drills are aimed at testing homegrown military equipment and enhancing the country's preparedness against potential threats.

A show of naval might on Iran's southern waters; in less than two months, the Iranian army's navy once again staged maneuvers on the Oman Sea and north of the Indian Ocean.

As part of the one-day drills, the navy fired long and short range cruise missiles.

The maneuvers also saw the firing of sea-launched anti ship missiles, with a range of 300 kilometers, which hit their marine targets successfully.

The Iranian army says the location of the drill is geopolitically of great significance and sends an important message to regional countries.

Iran's military sector has been one of the serious targets of US sanctions for four decades.

Over this period, Iran has tried to keep its defense industry afloat by resorting to indigenous expertise.

Today, Iranian officials claim that the Islamic Republic produces over 80 percent of its arms on its own.

Code-named martyrs of Ramadan, the military exercise was staged in honor of the 19 navy personnel who lost their lives in the Oman Sea more than a month ago.

Iran says its advances in the military sector will not pose a threat to any country, and are aimed at ensuring the country's security against possible threats.

Iran's navy says the security of Iran's waters is its red line, and arms embargo not only cannot undermine Iran's defense might, but they are in fact a strong drive to push Iran's armed forces toward self sufficiency.
