The World Athletics has declared the 2021 World Athletics Championships has been postponed until the summer of 2022.

The Athletics global governing body said on Monday the 2021 World Athletics Championships, which were due to take place in Oregon on August the 6th to the 15th, will now be shifted to 2022, to accommodate the re-arranged Tokyo Olympics.

The announcement came immediately after Olympic organizers said the postponed summer Games would begin on the 23rd of July next year, and will run until the 8th of August.

World Athletics added it is also in discussions with the organizers of the Commonwealth Games and the 2022 European Athletics Championships to arrange a new date for these events.
