Sahel G5 crisis
A recent meeting by the Sahel G5 has called for aligned cooperation between the states comprising the Sahel region to improve security, justice, education and social cohesion.
The President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould El Ghazouani made it clear that fighting the surging amounts of terrorism in the region is now a priority. The appeal comes amid a crisis that has seen the African Union call for 3,000 troops to be deployed to the region following the AU summit last month held in Addis Ababa.
