The US interference in Tibet affairs attempts to infringe on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity and is doomed to fail, said a commentary published by the China Media Group (CMG) on Wednesday.

The US House of Representatives on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly to pass the so-called Tibet Policy and Support Act of 2019, which lays out a road map for sanctions against Chinese officials who interfere in the Dalai Lama's succession.

This act seriously violates international law and basic norms governing international relations and sent a wrong signal to "forces seeking Tibet independence". It fully exposed the plot of some people in the US to interfere in China's internal affairs and undermine China's territorial integrity by taking advantage of Tibet-related issues.

As we all know, reincarnation of a living Buddha is a unique way of inheritance of Tibetan Buddhism, with fixed rituals and systems. From institutional, historical and legal point of view, the Chinese central government has the right to identify the reincarnation of a living Buddha.

The Tibet-related act passed by the US House of Representatives is open intervention of the reincarnation of Dalai Lama. In fact, it's disregard of historical custom, destruction of religious rituals and brutal interference in China's internal affairs make the act illegal and invalid.

For the past 60 years, Tibet has made historic progress in economic, social, cultural and ecological fields. The international community gets to know more about the real situation in Tibet and shows more understanding and support for China's Tibet-related policies.

It should be pointed out that Tibet-related issues are not not issues of ethnicity, religion or human rights, but major issues of principle concerning China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
