After some three months of political unrest in the country, Lebanon has made its way to form a cabinet made-up of academics and non-political experts.

The cabinet was announced after a meeting between Diab, President Michel Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at the presidential palace.

In a statement following his official appointment, Diab said this is a cabinet that will meet the aspirations of the protesters and the demand of all the Lebanese people.

Diab added that the government would fight unemployment and work towards a new electoral law. He described his ministers as independent ones who are ready to take on the heavy task at a critical time in the history of the country.

Despite the promises, several protesters were not convinced and continued to demonstrate and block roads in several parts of the country. The cabinet was declared after some three days of violent scuffles between demonstrators and the police, which left dozens wounded.

The new Lebanese cabinet led by Hassan Diab will hold its first meeting on Wednesday. As the new premier said, the primary job of the new cabinet will be to reflect the aspirations of protesters, to recover the stolen funds, and to fight corruption.
