Dakar Rally: Peterhansel wins Stage 9
Over Motorsports, Stephane Peterhansel has won Stage 9 of the Dakar Rally, as Carlos Sainz retained the overall lead.
13-time champion Peterhansel recorded his 3rd stage win of 2020, finishing the 410 kilometer special stage in the Saudi Arabian desert, after 3 hours, 8 minutes and 31 seconds. Defending champion Nasser Al Attiyah was 15 seconds behind and Yasir Saeidan came in 3rd.
Meanwhile in the overall standings, Sainz, who had led by more than 6 minutes prior to the stage, suffered a costly 5-minute loss to see his lead slashed to just 24 seconds. Al Attiyah is 2nd and Peterhansel is 6 minutes and 38 seconds off the lead.
