Foreign-sponsored Takfiri terrorists have fired a volley of rockets against an international airport and an air base in Syria’s northwestern city of Aleppo, causing minor material damage.

Syria’s official news agency SANA reported that the rockets landed in the vicinity of Aleppo International Airport and al-Nairab Military Airport on Saturday evening.

SANA added that army units conducted retaliatory attacks and concentrated bombardments targeting militants’ hideouts and positions in the area, killing a number of the terrorists.

The terrorists’ vehicles and rocket launching pads were also targeted and destroyed in the counter-terrorism operation.

Earlier in the day, foreign-backed terrorists holed up in western and southwestern Aleppo attacked a residential area in the village of Minyan, west of Aleppo.

Separately, at least three civilians lost their lives after a barrage of rockets fired by terrorists hit some neighborhoods of Aleppo on Sunday.

SANA said that the rocket attacks, launched by “terrorist groups”, also wounded at least three people, including two children.

The injured were reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital to receive treatment.

According to SANA, the rocket attack was conducted mainly by Takfiri Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorists against the residential neighborhoods of the city.

The Aleppo province is situated next to Idlib, a province still held in most parts by terror groups, the most prominent of them is called the HTS terrorist group, which is a coalition of different factions of terror outfits largely composed of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham.

Since the Syrian government troops regained control of Aleppo at the end of 2016, the city has been targeted intermittently by an array of terror outfits.

Foreign-backed militancy, supported by the United States and many of its Western and regional allies, erupted in Syria in 2011.The Takfiri terrorists overran large swathes of Syria’s territory before being vanquished by government forces and allies.
