Nasrallah says Iran missile strikes showed all US bases in West Asia within range

Secretary General of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivers a speech broadcast from the southern city of Baalbek on January 12, 2020.

Iran's precision missile strikes at US military bases in Iraq sent the message that all American targets in West Asia are within the range of Iranian missiles, says the secretary general of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also lauded the Islamic Republic over firing the salvo of ballistic missiles in retaliation for the January 3 assassination by US terrorists of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), in an airstrike near the Baghdad International Airport.

“This attack was also a message to the Zionist entity… Let stupid (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu know the wrong spot he has put his entity in,” Nasrallah said in a televised speech broadcast live from the southern Lebanese city of Baalbek as he addressed his supporters on Sunday evening.

He added, “Look at the faces of the US leaders… Do they look like victorious faces?”

Nasrallah said he was certain that US President Donald Trump would not respond to the Iranian missile strike when he saw the news on Arabic-language media outlets in the Persian Gulf region.

The Hezbollah chief then slammed mainstream Arab news networks for being far too pro-US over their attempts to underreport the Iranian strikes and the extent of damage caused.

“What happened in Ain al-Assad is only a slap (in the face of Americans), and not a revenge for the assassination. It is the first step that will lead to the (full) withdrawal of the US from the region,” Nasrallah said.

The Hezbollah head then censured Washington over being responsible for any criminal act worldwide, saying, “Wherever there is a crime, it should be labeled as “made in the USA.””

“The most violent criminal in today’s world is the US. Even the Israeli regime, which is committing crimes in the region, is under the US patronage. Daesh (Takfiri terrorist group) is also destroying and wreaking havoc in the region for the sake of re-deployment of US military forces,” the Hezbollah chief pointed out.

“One of the most important outcomes of this virtuous martyrdom is that it exposed the real nature of America. General Soleimani’s martyrdom must lead to expulsion of all US troops from the region,” Nasrallah commented.

He also hailed the top Iranian commander for his generous support for Hezbollah, saying the Lebanese resistance movement could flourish only through his firm backing.

“General Soleimani joined battles against Daesh in person,” Nasrallah said, stressing that the entire Middle East would have been overrun by the Takfiri terrorists if the Iranian general had not fought them off.

“Daesh was a very dire threat to the region… It was going to hurt every country, even its sponsors. Haj Qassem saved them… and the whole region must be grateful to him, Abu Mahdi and those who fought Daesh,” the Hezbollah chief said, referring to the second-in-command of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis who was with Soleimani when their convoy was targeted.

Nasrallah also slammed Washington for interference in Lebanon’s domestic affairs, describing the United States as the spearhead of tyranny and hegemony in West Asia.

He strongly dismissed US allegations of Hezbollah being Iran’s proxy in Lebanon, emphasizing that US statesmen do not comprehend the fact that such a bond is deep-rooted in fraternity, and that Tehran has never asked the Lebanese resistance movement to do anything for its sake.

The Hezbollah secretary general lauded mass funeral processions for Soleimani and Muhandis in Iraqi and Iranian cities.

“The huge processions in Iran revealed that revenge is not the decision of the Leader (of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei) but the decision of the nation.”

He termed Trump as a known hypocrite. “How could you as a major hypocrite ask Iran for cooperation in the fight against Daesh? You don’t want to fight Daesh.

“Trump is making the most bald-faced lies as the US president. They (US presidents) have all been liars, but Trump is the worst. General Soleimani was never planning to attack US embassies! Trump just wanted to invent an excuse for his crime,” Nasrallah noted.

He also addressed former President of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani, saying he must express gratitude to General Soleimani as he was the sole person to rush and fight Daesh when others turned down his request.

“Trump put the Iraqi nations before two options: Either he leaves and takes their wealth, or stays and takes their oil. Time will reveal that after General Soleimani there will be no place for arrogant parties and tyrants,” Nasrallah concluded.
