Putin, Merkel discussed the situation around the Iranian nuclear deal

Russian President Vladimir Putin told a joint presser with German Chancellor Angela Merkel that the situation in the West Asia would not be brought to a large-scale military conflict, otherwise, in his opinion, a catastrophe awaits the world.
Putin specified that such actions will lead to new large-scale departure of people from their territories and new flows of refugees not only to Europe, but also to other regions. Noting the security in the region, Putin and Merkel underlined the need to maintain the Iran’s nuclear deal, known as JCPOA.
Noting a Ukrainian plane crash near Iranian capital, Tehran, Merkel said it is an important step for Iran to admit the unintentional shooting down of the plane. She called the incident "a dramatic event." Russia and Germany further addressed the regional developments.
They underlined that Syrian conflict could be solved by political means. Putin emphasized that it is necessary to merge all efforts of responsible members of the international community to help Syria and its nation in terms of restoring country’s infrastructure.
He said, however, all efforts have to be provided upon agreement with the legitimate authorities. Russian president underlined that the assistance has to be delivered to all affected territories, without any preconditions. The two leaders also noted that they had discussions on the Libyan crisis and the Minsk agreements on Ukraine.
German chancellor rarely travels to Russia and her visit to Moscow is a definite shift in relations between Russia and Germany. Apparently, for both Merkel and Putin, the current negotiations are not an ordinary event: otherwise they could meet at any international venue.
