The United States armed forces are beefing up their positions around Syria’s oil reserves. The chairman of the joint chiefs of staff says the Pentagon is sending more forces along the Iraqi border.

General Mark Milley says they are being sent to the oil fields in Dayr al-Zawr province in Eastern Syria. He says the deployment is aimed at preventing the Daesh terror group from gaining access to the oil. Video footage from the region shows US military convoys re-entering Syria from Iraq.
