Russia breaks away from the dollar

Russia says it plans to move away from the US dollar in its foreign energy transactions. The move to abandon the greenback is aimed at attracting more foreign investment by reducing the country’s reliance on the -S led global financial system.

Speaking to the Financial Times, the Russia's energy minister says Moscow is considering settling accounts in its local currency the ruble or even the euro.
