Iran has had a disappointing start in the 2019 Volleyball World Cup after suffering a 3-1 loss against Russia.
The Russians were the better side of the match and managed to win the opener 25-21. The 2019 VNL Champions kept up the momentum, and easily bagged the second set 25-18. But team Iran showed some resilience and took the third set 26-24. It was a close contest in the 4th, but some personal errors by the Iranian players gave the Russians the opportunity to take the set 25-22.
Iran will next meet Egypt on Wednesday, while Russia will play against Canada.
