IWF World C'Ships: Iran earns gold and bronze medals

Over to the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships in Thailand, Reza Dehdar of Iran has pulled off a stunning performance to claim a gold and a bronze medal in the 102 kg category.

Dehdar, who wasn’t actually considered to be a prospect in this division, finished the snatch in 6th place with 175 kilograms to his name, 1 place above Iran’s main contender Reza Beiralvand, who failed twice to surpass 170kg.

Dehdar then stole the show in the clean and jerk when he lifted 219 kg over his head to snatch the gold from current European champion Yauheni Tsikhantsou of Belarus, and register a tally of 394 kg to also win the bronze medal in total. That’s while, last year’s bronze medalist Beiralvand had to settle for 7th with a total 376 kg. So far, Iran have clinched 8th place after earning 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
