Iran advance to Asian Volleyball C’ship semis
Team Iran are through to the semifinals of the 20th Asian Volleyball Championship in Tehran, after thumping Chinese Taipei in straight sets.
Iran set the tone of the match in the opener after sailing to a 25-19 victory. Yet the second set was a close contest as it went into a tie-break where the Iranians edged out their opponents by just two points.
In the final set, Iran once again turned up the heat on Taipei and finished them off at 25 to 21.
With the win, the Iranians advanced to the last 4 of the event to meet South Korea on Friday, while in the other semifinal clash, Australia will take on Japan to see who will make it through to the next round.
