Is Netanyahu’s era over?

After failing to secure a clear election victory for the second time this year, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on his main rival, former military general Benny Gantz, to join him in a broad, governing coalition. Observers say Netanyahu is in a tight spot and must wait days, or more likely weeks, to learn if he can stay in office, or that he should step aside.
But for Palestinians, Netanyahu’s regime has always adopted aggressive policies. Therefore, no matter who becomes the next prime minister, the outcome for the Palestinians will be the same.
However, if Netanyahu and his challengers do not reach an agreement, then Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin will choose the candidate he thinks has more chances of forming a coalition. The chosen candidate, who does not necessarily need to be the leader of the largest party, has up to 42 days to form a coalition. If he fails, a third election can be expected.
At the end of the day, experts say Israel will continue to expand in the form of an apartheid regime. Whatever the outcome of the current elections, therefore, Israel will remain a racist regime.
