EU parliament president says MEPs want to save JCPOA

At the start of this month US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo traveled to Brussels to meet the new presidents of the EU's key institutions in, what many analysts claim, was part of his efforts to turn the 28-country bloc against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
At a press conference on Thursday we raised the subject of Iran relations with EU parliament president David Sassoli.
Trump and those closest to him in the White House, have been doing all they can to destroy the Iran nuclear deal.
Iran has been scaling back its commitments contained in the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Tehran says it's doing this because the EU, a key signatory to the agreement, is failing to offset the impacts of the US withdrawal, in May of last year, from the international accord.
During previous debates here in the European Parliament lawmakers have made the point one of the most effective methods the EU could use to try and save the Iran nuclear deal would be to apply pressure on Israel and Saudi Arabia to stop influencing US foreign policy.
