People from all walks of life in the Gaza Strip rallied for the 72nd Friday in a row against the Israeli regime in the east of the impoverished coastal enclave. The weekly event turned violent after Israeli soldiers started shooting unarmed protesters, injuring dozens of them including women and children.

Since the beginning of the peaceful Great March of Return Rallies in late March 2018, Israeli forces have killed scores of protesters and injured thousands more. Protesters accused Arab countries of failing to help the Palestinian in their struggle for freedom.

The peaceful weekly action began to demand the right of return for Palestinian refugees and the complete lifting of the hermetic Israeli blockade. Observers say the international community ignores the suffering of the Palestinian people and encourages the Israeli regime to further violate their rights.

Palestinians have been suffering due to Israel’s inhumane and illegal practices for more than seven decades amid the silence of the international community.

Despite Israel’s brutal response to the peaceful demonstrations, people here say they will adamantly continue fighting for their legitimate rights.
