A Monumental Failure: Trump’s arch-hawk lured Britain into a dangerous trap against Iran

Adrian Darya 1, the Iranian oil tanker detained by the UK at the request of the United States, has changed its listed destination to a port in Turkey.

After its failure in keeping the Iranian supertanker further detained in Gibraltar, the US is playing another card and has warned countries around the Mediterranean they could be sanctioned for taking the oil.

Meanwhile, Iran has warned any attempt at seizing the vessel, which has a cargo of 2.1 million barrels of crude oil, would have "grave consequences".

Is the whole story of the tanker not a total failure for the US administration and proof of the fact that London can ill-afford a prolonged diplomatic and legal spat with Iran?
