A bloody conflict that has local, regional and international dimensions has been reignited in Libya.
The country’s descent into widespread, armed violence highlights the power vacuum that exists in the North African nation since the overthrow and killing of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
The recent raid on Tripoli and the attempt to bring down the UN-backed administration in the city is threatening to expose formerly downplayed alliances.
The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France and the US seem intent on propping up military strongman Khalifa Haftar’s mission both at diplomatic and military levels.
