Washington, Tel Aviv try to hide reality of Israel: Activist

The United States and Israel have left the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) because of its stance towards the Zionist regime and Palestine, says a commentator.

The United States and Israel officially pulled out of UNESCO late on Monday over what they described as the world body’s anti-Israel bias.

UNESCO infuriated Washington and Tel Aviv after granting Palestine full membership in 2011, and criticizing Israel for its occupation of East Jerusalem al-Quds.

Shabbir Hassanally, activist and Islamic scholar, told Press TV on Wednesday that “this (America and Israel withdrawal) is because they don’t want anyone saying reality of Israel.”

The United States and Israel are annoyed with the fact that “UNESCO [is] recognizing Palestine as a sovereign entity” and “they (UNESCO member states) have blasted Israel for being a criminal,” the scholar argued.
