Iran held to 1-1 draw in friendly match against Venezuela

Iran have been held to a 1-1 draw in a friendly encounter against Venezuela in Doha. The Iranians nearly scored the opener in the 8th minute, but Sardar Azmoun was denied by the Venezuela keeper.

The match was fairly equal until the 35th minute, when Darwin Machís put the South Americans in front. 7 minutes later, Iran leveled the terms when Ali Gholizadeh’s left-footed shot found its way into the back of the net.

After the restart, Venezuela appeared to have scored their 2nd in the 63rd minute through Yosef Martínez, but it was disallowed for offside. From there, both teams created scoring chances, but neither were able to find the net.
