January 9, 1987, Ali had taken his camera to take pictures of his fellow soldiers. Together with Abbas they were waiting in one of the bunkers to slip through the passage at the right time.
The bullet shot from an Iraqi Simonov hit Abbas and immediately passed through Alis forehead. With his last film roll he put in his camera, Ali captured his own final moment.
