Iran triumphs over South Korea in FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship

The Iran men’s national under-18 basketball team has recovered to defeat South Korea in a classification match at the 2018 Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA) Under-18 Asian Championship.

On Friday, the Iranian outfit, which had slumped to a 72-87 loss against New Zealand in a quarterfinal encounter the previous day, prevailed over South Korea 89-81 in a 5th-to-8th-place fixture at Stadium 29 of the central Thai city of Nonthaburi.

The Iranian sportsmen managed to roll to a 71-64 victory over Japan on Tuesday. The Iranian squad had defeated Kazakhstan 86-54 a day earlier.

The Iran men’s national under-18 basketball team clinched an 80-50 win over Indonesia in its opening match on August 5.

The 2018 FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship got underway on August 5, and will run through August 11, 2018.

The top four finishers will qualify for the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup, and will represent FIBA Asia in the upcoming tournament.
