The Iran men’s national under-20 volleyball team has maintained its winning streak at the preliminary round of the 2018 Asian Men's U20 Volleyball Championship, defeating South Korea in straight sets.

On Monday, the young Iranian sportsmen took on their East Asian opponents in a Pool A match in the Bahraini capital city of Manama, and beat them 25-22, 25-21 and 25-19.

“We’re among the Asian volleyball powers and want to defend our volleyball reputation.

“Our players put in decent performances and I hope they can keep up the good work for the rest of the way,” Iran’s head coach Behrouz Ataei said after the match.

He added, “We might face India in the next round which would be a tough challenge, although I believe there is no easy opponent at this level.”

The Iran men’s national under-20 volleyball team will face either India or Hong Kong in its next fixture on Wednesday.
