Iranian weightlifters have raised the Islamic Republic’s medal tally at the 2018 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Junior World Championships in Uzbekistan, earning two bronzes.

On Friday and the seventh day of the prestigious event at the Uzbekistan Sport Complex in the Uzbek capital city of Tashkent, Amir Azizi elevated 156 kilograms in his first snatch attempt of the 105-kilogram weight class.

Azizi, however, failed to raise 162 kilograms overhead in the second move. He lifted up the weight in the third challenge and got the bronze.

Earlier, Rasoul Mo’tamedi had participated in the 94-kilogram contests, and scooped up the bronze with a lift of 202 kilograms in the clean and jerk.

The 2018 IWF Junior World Championships began on July 7, and will finish on July 14.
