Iranian athlete Rahmanifar wins place in 2018 Youth Olympic Games

Iranian athlete Mohammad Reza Rahmanifar has received a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Youth Olympic Qualifying Meet in Thailand, and booked his ticket for the forthcoming Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games.

Rahmanifar took part in the men’s discus throw competitions in the Thai capital city of Bangkok on Wednesday, and finished runner-up with a personal best throw of 85.70 meters.

Later in the day, Iranian sprinter Mehdi Rezaei vied against opponents in the men's 100-meter race, and recorded 10.81 seconds to claim the third spot.

The Iranian athlete had set the time of 10.86 seconds in the semifinal round to find a place in the finale.

The 2018 Asian Youth Olympic Qualifying Meet kicked off on July 4, and will wrap up on July 5, 2018.

Athletics contests at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics will be held from October 11 to October 16.

The events will take place at the Parque Polideportivo Roca in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
