Former South Korean President Park Geun-hye has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for corruption and abuse of office. The verdict follows a year-long trial preceded by Park’s impeachment and removal from office after months of massive demonstrations in late 2016 and early 2017. Her supporters rallied outside the Seoul Central District Court.
