Iran basketball team stays put as Asia’s best in fresh FIBA rankings

The national Iranian men’s basketball team has maintained its position as the best Asian squad in the latest edition of Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA) rankings, but dropped one place overall to nestle in the world’s 24th spot.

According to the latest rankings released by the world’s basketball governing body, the Iranian team collected 287.8 points and stayed put as the top soccer outfit in Asia.

Other Asian teams are China, which slid down four spots and claimed the 28th slot in the latest FIBA rankings with 263.4 points, followed by the Philippines and South Korea, which landed in the 30th and 31st places respectively with 254.8 and 229.2 points.

The Philippines climbed one position in the global rankings of national basketball teams, and South Korea moved up four.

The United States remains the top-ranked basketball team in the world, with 735 points.

Spain earned 704.7 points to win the second position, while third-place France collected 644 points. Serbia also maintained its place and stood fourth with 642.9 points.
