Can Kabila continue in office as DR Congo implodes?

Kabila’s refusal to step down at the end of his mandate in December 2016 has triggered a series of street protests in which scores have been killed in Kinshasa. This is a continuing ripple effect from a government seemingly set on maintaining a catastrophic status quo.

The UN and its partners are racing against time to feed the people of Kasai, fight malnutrition among its children and build resilience. But the odds are stacked against them: infrastructure is limited, security poor is for such vast numbers of people and the cash short. Is time also running out for President Kabila?
