Iran’s Makvandi crested in Asian Cup & Asian Inter-Club Weightlifting Championships

Iranian weightlifter Ali Makvandi has featured outstanding performances at the Asian Cup & Asian Inter-Club Weightlifting Championships, and been five medals, including four precious gold ones.

On the third day of the continental tournament at Yongha Weightlifting Gymnasium in the northeastern South Korean city of Yanggu, Makvandi, who is a member of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) weightlifting team, took part in the 85-kilogram weight category of the competitions.

He claimed the snatch bronze medal in the Asian Cup contests with 146 kilograms.

Makvandi lifted up 199 kilograms in the clean and jerk contests, and dominated the podium.

The Iranian contestant bagged the gold medal with an aggregate of 345 kilograms.

Iranian weightlifter also demonstrated impressive displays during Asian Inter-Club Weightlifting Championships, and received a clean and jerk gold medal.

Makvandi also bested his opponents and secured the aggregate gold medal.

The Asian Cup & Asian Inter-Club Weightlifting Championships kicked off on October 28, and will run through November 2, 2017.
