French state of emergency becomes common law

France has officially ended its highly controversial state of emergency, after nearly two full years. Instead, President Emmanuel Macron and his new party have just inscribed nearly all the emergency police practices into common law in what appears to be a major setback in the fight against Islamophobia and discrimination.
