Russia vetoes UN resolution to renew Syria gas attacks probes

Russia has vetoed a US-proposed resolution at the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday preventing the renewal of the mandate of a mission that investigates the use of chemical weapons in Syria. Russia, skeptical of the US move, called the push for renewal hasty since the investigative team’s mandate is due to expire in mid-November.
