A recent report has revealed a secret arms deal between Israeli and Emirati businessmen. According to the Hebrew-language Maariv daily, Israeli businessman Metai Kokhafi brokered the deal by flying to Abu Dhabi, along with a group of Israeli generals, including former commander of the regime's Air Force Eitan Ben Eliyahu. Reactions to this later emerged in Israel with the media criticizing officials for remaining silent on “secret” arms dealings and cooperation with Arab states. Nevertheless, some experts argue that the deal is part of the process already begun to normalize relations between Israel and certain Arab countries.
