The women’s committee at the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) says the Iranian women’s national futsal team is scheduled to play two friendly fixtures against Italy late next month.

The FFIRI and the Federazione Italiana Football Sala (FIFS), which is the sports federation that works to promote the sport of futsal in Italy, have reached an agreement for two exhibition games between the Iranian and Italian women’s national futsal teams on November 23 and 24 in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

“The scrimmages against Italy will give Iranian players the chance to broaden their experience and learn how to withstand pressure. Under earlier agreements, we will have two other friendly matches against Russia women’s national futsal team on February 16 and 18 next year,” head coach of Iran women’s national futsal team Shahrzad Mozaffar said.

She added, “I believe the more demonstration games Iranian futsal players play, the more experience they obtain. Training camps are an essential part of a team’s preparations. What helps a team to progress and put in better performance is that warm-up matches are held on a regular basis.”

“Italy and Russia are strong teams, and scrimmages against them will considerably assist Iran national futsal team. We intend to organize more friendly games, especially against Asian sides like China, Japan and Thailand,” Mozaffar pointed out.

The Iranian women’s national futsal team is preparing itself for the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Futsal Championship.

The biennial international futsal championship will take place in Thailand between May 3 and 12 next year.
