N Korea pursues economic prosperity amid stifling sanctions

North Korea’s economy has remained resilient despite several rounds of international sanctions targeting its lifeline; mineral and textile exports. The country’s gross domestic product witnessed its fastest growth in 17 years in 2016, registering a 4 percent increase. Salaries have also gone up, and the per-capita GDP is showing signs of growth.
