Iran junior volleyball team loses scrimmage to Slovenia

Iran’s young female volleyball players have put in another lackluster performance during their eleven-day training tour in Slovenia, and suffered their third consecutive defeat after their Slovenian counterparts beat them in straight sets.

On Saturday and the fifth day of the camp in Slovenia’s second-largest and northeastern city of Maribor, the national Slovenian girls’ U-18 volleyball team delivered a firm and consistent display from the start of the exhibition game, and won it 25-15, 26-24, 25-19 and 25-12.

The young Iranian sportswomen had earlier fallen to Slovenians 4-1 in their two previous demonstrations.

The national Iranian girls’ U-18 volleyball team is preparing for the 11th edition of Asian Girls U18 Volleyball Championship in Chongqing, China. The tournament will kick off on March 5 and will wrap up on March 13.

Iran national girls’ volleyball team has Zahra Zohdi, Zahra Salehi, Zahra Karimi, Zahra Fayzollahpour,  Bita A’laei, Zahra Khanmohammadi, Bahar Bahraminia, Mehrnoush Salari, Sepideh Maqsoudi, Fatemeh Enayat, Ghazaleh Allahyari, Maryam Habibi, Aytak Salamat, Bahar Salimizadeh, Mena Ashofteh and Shiva Afsharian in its array.

The Iranian squad is under the tutelage of Slovenian head coach Majda Leban Cicic. She is assisted by Iranian coaches Fatemeh Abdollahi, Nazanin Fatollahpour and Mahsa Arasteh.
