Iran offers condolences to Russia over plane crash
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has extended its condolences to Russia over a military plane crash that has killed all 92 people on board.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Sunday expressed his deep condolences to the Russian government and nation and the bereaved families of the victims.
A Russian military plane with 84 passengers and eight crew members on board crashed on its way to Syria on Sunday with no sign of survivors.
The Tu-154 plane went down in the Black Sea just two minutes after taking off from the southern city of Adler, south of the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, where it had been refueling, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a briefing broadcast on the ministry's website.
He added that 10 bodies had been recovered off the coast of Sochi, with authorities pledging to dispatch more than 100 divers to aid in the search.
Military servicemen, journalists, and musicians had been on board the plane.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Sunday that the country will observe a national day of mourning on Monday.
