The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach is in Japan. And he has agreed to work together with Tokyo's first female governor to achieve a "significant reduction" in costs for the 2020 Olympics.

The comments came at a meeting between Bach and Yuriko Koike who took office in August. Koike has proposed changing some event venues to cut costs and said she will make a final decision this month.

At the same time, Bach reminded the governor that Tokyo should respect the agreement it signed when it was awarded the games three years ago. He also suggested the effort should stick to the current venue plans.
