Shia Muslims in Afghanistan are celebrating Eid al-Ghadir. The occasion, which falls on 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah in the Islamic calendar, marks the day when the prophet of Islam appointed the first Shia Imam as his successor some 1,400 years ago.
