The Court of Arbitration for Sport has rejected Russia’s Appeal against a doping ban that rules its track and field athletes out of next month’s Rio Olympics.

The ban was imposed by the Athletics’ World Governing Body the IAAF in November, following allegations of state-sponsored-doping and cover-ups in Russia.

However, the situation may get more complicated for the Russians. On Monday, a report commissioned by the World Anti-Doping Agency claimed that Russian competitors were involved in Systematic and Widespread State-Sponsored-doping before and at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

The report has Prompted the International Olympic Committee to consider banning Russia from the Rio Games altogether.

It says it will Study and Analyze the CAS ruling. – This is while, The IOC’s Executive Board is set to hold a conference call on Sunday to discuss the issue.
