Junior Iranian wrestlers snatch eleven medals in Asian Cadet Championship

The national Iranian cadet freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling teams have claimed 11 medals, including eight gold, at the 2016 Cadet Asian Championship in Chinese Taipei.

On Thursday, Iran’s Mohammad Talebi was downed by his Japanese opponent Hiromu Sakaki 1-6 in the final encounter of the freestyle 63-kilogram weight category in the center-western Taiwanese city of Taichung, and clinched the silver medal.

Karan Karan and Kumar Vikash, two representatives from India, prevailed over their opponents in the third-place bouts of the same weight division, and settled for the bronze medals.

In the Greco-Roman 76-kilogram class, Hossein Forouzandeh overwhelmed his Kazakh rival Stanislav Rylskiy 3-1 and picked up a gold medal for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Uzbekistan’s Parviz Muminov and Indian contestant Sajan Sajan also won a bronze medal each in this weight section.

Mohammad Reza Rostami outmuscled Eli Magomadov from Kazakhstan 9-0 in the Greco-Roman 69-kilogram to snatch a bronze medal for Iran.

Additionally, Reza Mardi conceded defeat against Kazakhstan’s Adilet Sissembayev in the final Greco-Roman clash of 54-kilogram weight class on Friday, and claimed the silver medal.

India’s Pardeep Pardeep and Kyrgyz Zholaman Sharshenbekov collected the bronze medals in this category.

Mohammad Reza Mokhtari defeated Uzbek competitor Mukhammadkodir Yusupov in the last competition of the Greco-Roman 58-kilogram category to clinch a gold medal for Iran.

Alireza Moradyani also received a gold medal in the freestyle 76-kilogram weight category.

On Thursday, Omid Arami in the Greco-Roman 42-kilogram, Mohammad Mehrabi in the Greco-Roman 46-kilogram, Mohammad Hosseinvand in the Greco-Roman 50-kilogram, Seyyed Abolfazl Hashemi in the freestyle 85-kilogram and Seyyed Mehdi Hashemi in the 100-kilogram weight sections won gold medals.

The 2016 Cadet Asian Championship started in Taichung on July 7 and will conclude on July 10.
