Starting off with football news and hosts France have booked their spot in the quarter finals of Euro 2016 with a late 2-nil victory over Albania at the Stade Velodrome stadium.

Both teams tried to open the scoring in the first 45 minutes of Wednesday’s encounter with France having more chances but there were no signs of goal as the teams headed to the locker rooms at a nil-nil stalemate.

The hosts increased the pressure after the break but had to wait until the 90th minute to finally break the deadlock through Antoine Griezmann.

The Atletico Madrid Forward received a fine cross from his team mate and headed the ball beautifully past the keeper to make it 1-nil, making sure France qualified into the last 8.

Didier Deschamps’ men then doubed their advantage a few minutes later when Dimitri Payeh fired the ball into left corner of the net to seal the hosts a much needed victory.
