Iraqi forces push Daesh out of hit city center in Anbar

Iraqi government forces continue to make gains during their operations aimed at purging Daesh terrorists from the strategic city of Hit in Anbar province. The Iraqi army commander also said operations in Hit are still underway despite the major achievement. He expressed hope that Iraqi forces will fully liberate the province of Anbar within days. ISIL terrorists overran the city in 2014. The town lies over 140 kilometers west of the capital Baghdad, on a supply line linking the terrorists in Iraq to those in neighboring Syria. Iraq’s military and popular forces have dealt heavy blows to Daesh since the liberation of Ramadi, the provincial capital of Anbar, last year.
