  • Saudi warplanes have launched fresh airstrikes in neighboring Yemen, leaving an unknown number of casualties. Some raids targeted a refugee camp in the northwest Hajjah province. Saudi Arabia has been bombing its southern neighbor for over a year. Nearly 9400 Yemenis have lost their lives since then. 
  • More than 20 people have been killed and scores wounded in a wave of bomb attacks and shelling across Iraq. The attacks hit the Baghdad area and the country’s south, mostly targeting military forces and their allied volunteer fighters. Daesh terrorists have claimed responsibly for several of these attacks.
  • Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah says it has attacked Daesh’s positions in a village in the east of the country. Hezbollah officials say the attack happened near the village of Ras Baalbek, close to the border with Syria. A number of Daesh terrorists have been killed in the operation. 
  • Iran says it has sent its commandos to Syria on an advisory mission. Iranian military officials say the commandos belong to the Brigade 65 of the Army’s Ground Forces. Iran’s military presence in Syria is part of defense agreements between the two countries.
  • People have held a protest in the Philippines to condemn joint military exercises by their country and the US. More than five-thousand US troops and four thousand Philippine soldiers are taking part in the exercises. The drills are held amid tensions between China and the US over the South China Sea.
  • Russia has once again rejected calls for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has reiterated Moscow's position that only the Syrians can decide the fate of their president. He warned that an insistence on Assad’s ouster could hinder Syria's political process. 
  • A ferry carrying the first group of refugees deported by Greece has arrived in Turkey. Over 200 people were ferried to Dikili from the Greek islands of Lesbos and Chios. Greece is to return some 750 refugees to Turkey as part of a controversial deal between Ankara and the EU. 
  • Israel has demolished three Palestinian homes in the northern West Bank town of Qabatiyah. The houses belonged to three Palestinians who were killed following alleged attacks against Israeli soldiers in February. Meanwhile, Israeli forces have opened fire on Palestinian protesters in Qabatiyah, injuring five people.
