Russia accuses Turkey of arming Daesh in Syria

Here is a round-up of global news developments:

  • Russia has accused Turkey of arming Daesh terrorists in Syria. Russia's Ambassador to U-N Vitaly Churkin said in a letter to the U-N Security Council that one-point-9 million dollars worth of explosives and chemicals has been smuggled across Turkey's border to the Takfiris and other terrorist groups in Syria.
  • Greece’s Parliament has approved a bill that allows the deportation of refugees back to Turkey as part of an agreement between Ankara and the European Union. Meanwhile, refugees have blocked the country’s railway lines. They say they will continue their protests until they’re allowed into Macedonia.
  • The U-N refugee agency has warned against the immediate return of refugees to Turkey. A spokesperson for the agency has also called on the E-U to hasten the registry process for asylum seekers. Melissa Fleming has also warned about the worsening situation of refugees in Greece.
  • Bahraini demonstrators have taken to the streets of the capital Manama against the regime’s crackdown on dissent. The protest came just ahead of the Formula One Grand Prix this weekend. Manama has launched a heavy-handed crackdown against opposition protesters since 20-11.
  • The Iraqi army has liberated several key regions in Anbar province from Daesh terrorists. Up to 100 Takfiris and 15 Iraqi soldiers were killed in the fighting. The operation is part of a wider push to capture the Daesh-held city of Mosul in Nineveh province.
  • Syrian forces have discovered a mass grave in the city of Palmyra. Officials say the grave contained the remains of 25 civilians killed by ISIL terrorists. Most of the victims were women and children. Palmyra was liberated from the terrorists earlier this week.
  • U-S president Barack Obama has accused Iran of destabilizing the Middle East. Obama made the remarks in a meeting at the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington. He also said the nuclear deal with Iran has so far proved to be effective and successful.
  • Thousands of U-S teachers have staged a walkout in the state of Illinois to protests cuts in the education sector. The striking teachers are also angry about insufficient state funding. Organizers have announced the closure of all schools to raise the cost the walk-out.
